Frequently Asked Questions
What is this?
PEAK STATE is a community-powered experience — part music festival, part collective artistic expression, all living film set. By participating in this project, you are telling a story that’s never been told.
So it's a music festival?
It is a Music Festival Experience to enable the film shoot, there will be DJs, clothing vendors, food vendors, workshops, art installations and immersive experiences similar to a festival.
But what's the movie shoot part?
The movie was written by comedian Brent Pella, and is a comedy about a couple trying to rekindle their spark amidst the chaos and beauty of a remote music festival. Think SUPERBAD if it were set at a festival.
There will be film production crew members around the festival space, capturing footage of the festival including performers, dancers, vendors, art, decor, and possibly YOU!
How will the event work?
PEAK STATE will mostly operate like a typical music festival. There will be some programming and booked events, and there will be some spaces during some days where our “festival attendees” will be invited to join certain scenes, which will be planned and communicated in advance as part of the weekend schedule.
For example, there may be a block of 8pm–10pm on a certain day where we encourage festival attendees to join us at a certain stage for a filmed DJ performance.
Mostly, festival attendees will be free to flow through the experience as they choose.
What would I be filmed doing?
Our goal is to film the natural environment of a music festival as our characters go through their journey over the course of the story.
While the lead cast has already been chosen, the secondary cast of “festival attendees” (you!) is a crucial part of the festival experience. We’re calling for community support in a BIG way — show up, dance, have fun!
We might see you perusing a clothing rack at a vendor booth, we might see you playing with a neon hula-hoop, we might catch a quick glimpse of you dancing your heart out when the bass drops — any moments that express love and joy is what we’re aiming to capture.
What are some examples of scenes that I would be featured in?
We may see you walking through vendor booths, dancing at a stage, watching a fire performance, and naturally living your best, most natural and vibrant festival life.
We will not be filming in anyone’s private spaces, cars, RVs, tents, or other personal areas. Public festival grounds only.
So would I be filmed on camera?
By attending this event, you would be knowingly entering a space with active video/audio recording. While you may be seen in the background of some shots, it is not guaranteed that you will be prominently featured on-screen.
If you are averse to being filmed on-camera in any way, we kindly request you do not RSVP.
What if I want to be on camera more?
If you are a specialty performer (i.e. fire dancer, flow toy ninja, stilt walker, etc.) and would like to learn of more opportunities to be featured in the film, please email festivalmovie2026@gmail.com with your name, location, and info on what you do.
Will I get credit in the movie?
Yes! Your name will be listed as a “festival attendee” on-screen in the credits of the film.
When and where can I watch the movie?
Our goal is for a premiere in Spring 2027, with plans for a wider rollout in the months to follow.
To stay updated on every step of the process, please email festivalmovie2026@gmail.com and we’ll keep you in the loop!
